Lovely - I placed an order for collection which was ready when I arrived. The fish was absolutely delicious, wonderful flavour and perfectly cooked. The chips were so much better than I have had elsewhere - not greasy, fried to perfection and no nasty burnt refried bits at all ( plenty of crispy, little ones though). Absolutely perfect!

Nice little fish and chip shop. Visited on a Monday evening. Quickly served by a very polite lady, and we didn't need to wait long to receive our order. Good portions, and chips were not over cooked or greasy. Fish was good size, and again not greasy. All in all a good fish and chip shop, would definitely come again if in the area.

I always come back here. I've been to many fish and chip shops up and down the country, and The Fish Shop in Writtle is the most consistent, generously portioned and one of the best value ones there is. Their chips are just right, every time. Cod is great. And they're lovely people. AND you can learn the Icelandic names of all kinds of ocean life from the Scandinavian fishing year book while you wait!
